A Mysterious Discovery

While looking through the invalid worlds of the Super Mario Bros 2 Beta rom, my friend (Geno on MFGG) discovered something... Peculiar...
Take a look at these screenshots:

Besides the glitched graphics and the headless Luigi, notice anything weird?






That's right, you can see what appears to be a fire flower in the upper left corner!
If you can't see it, I circled it in red in this screenshot:
